Life IN Christ
Colossians 3:3 says, Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. In John 14:20 Jesus said, I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. And because the Holy Spirit indwells each one of us, Jesus declared in John 14:12, Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
At the Athens College of Ministry, we are passionate about raising up a community of believers who understand who they are because of whose they are, and how to think, act, and speak with all the power and authority that they carry because of our one-ness with Christ and with each other. Each one of our 7-week Life IN Christ courses is designed to help you come into the fullness of your identity in Christ through practical teaching straight from God’s Word. God promised us an overcoming, more than conquerors, abundant life. Are you ready to live in the fullness of who He says you are? Identity in Christ
Alive in Christ
In this seminar, participants explore the Scriptures of who God says they are in Christ, what it means to “abide” in Him, and the mindset needed to enter into the fullness of a Kingdom-focused lifestyle. Participants will be empowered and encouraged to stand strong in Christ as they find their true identity in Him.
God called us to be “Ambassadors of Reconciliation,” helping to reconcile the lost to His Son, Jesus. The Kingdom Ambassadors seminar explores the practical realities of the believer’s power and authority, the importance of our words, and how to effectively operate in the heavenly courts for the purpose of overcoming victory in the lives of everyone He puts in our care.
Walking in Sonship
This course examines what it means to be a co-heir with Christ as sons and daughters of God. Through the Scriptures, participants will develop a deeper relationship with God, their perfect Father, and trade false lenses they have about themselves and their relationship with God for the truth of how they are known in Christ.
We are taught that God has saved us so that we can have a relationship with Him. How do we have a relationship if we can’t see, hear, or feel the One we are in relationship with? The Bible is filled with accounts of men and women interacting with a living God. Does God “speak” today…to you and me? What does His “Voice” sound like? How do I know that what I am “hearing” is God? Is there something I can do to hear from God more often and with greater clarity? Based on Four Keys to Hearing God’s Voice, through this interactive study you will find the answers to these questions and many others. You will develop a more personal, intimate relationship with God through prayer and two-way journaling. Your prayer life will “explode” with excitement!
Because of the rapidly changing cultural norms in our country, God’s design for sexual wholeness has been lost, and replaced with contemporary thinking about the role of sexuality in our lives. Through this course, participants will examine what the Scriptures say about how any why God created sexuality as a beautiful picture of the perfect love between Christ and His Bride, the Church. This seminar is highly recommended for parents, educators, youth and college-age pastors, and anyone struggling with sexual identity or endeavoring to be set free from past sexual sin and trauma.
The Bible tells us that our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for those he might devour. His intention is to kill, steal, and destroy. Through this seminar, participants will become more fully aware of the enemy’s schemes so that he might not outwit them. Participants will learn how to close doors to the enemy’s influence in their lives and the lives of others through prayer and repentance. And most importantly, they will learn that they only must resist the enemy in order to cause him to flee, given that they are in Christ and that the battle belongs to the Lord!
Healing & Freedom
God says that as we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, we become transformed into His likeness. Shame is the enemy’s favorite tool to keep our heads hanging down with our eyes on our own guilt and embarrassment. In this seminar, partipants will examine the realities of shame and how it interferes with all our relationships–with God and with other people. As a result, participants can expect tremendous freedom in Christ from the bonds of shame!
Trauma to an individual can result from being the victim of a violent act to having been neglected as a child and many things in between. As a result of Trauma in our lives, we easily engage in a number of false beliefs about our identity and our security in Christ. Through these teaching on trauma, the seminar participants will identify areas of unresolved trauma in their own lives and replace any resulting false beliefs wth God’s Truth. As a result, participants can expect tremendous freedom in Christ from the bonds of trauma!
Restoring Your Temple
1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. This course focuses on our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit, and how to bring our physical bodies into alignment with God’s ways. The participants will address issues related to food and overeating, nutrition, sickness, and how to surrender the care of our physical bodies to the Lord.
Filling the Empty Places
The Bible says that we should be filled with the Holy Spirit, and yet we often try to fill the empty places of our hearts and minds with alcohol, drugs, food, relationships, work, achievement, and more. The goal of this seminar is to help participants break free from those things that are occupying space inside of them that should be filled with God, and empower them to help others be full in Christ as they break free from addictive idols.
Abortion has become very common in our country. Many Christian women (and fathers) engaged in abortion at a young age, only to discover that as they grow in Christ, they feel the burden and shame for having ended a precious life. Through this seminar, participants will receive a tremendous amount of inner healing for the things past, be set free from the anguish that has been kept hidden over time, and develop a new awareness of the incredible forgiveness and love that they have in Christ.
