The Athens College of Ministry offers Certificate, Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, and Master’s Degree programs in Christian Ministry.
Certificate In Christian Ministry (Undergraduate)
Certificate Programs are designed to be the equivalent of a major area of study for students who choose to dual enroll in the Athens College of Ministry and another college or university, but who do not wish to earn a second degree. Enrollment in Certificate Programs provides college students, lay ministry leaders, and non-degree students a thorough biblical foundation so that they become equipped to integrate Christian principles in to their chosen careers and/or to effectively engage in Christian ministry through volunteer leadership in churches and community organizations. Transfer credits are not accepted for completion of Certificate Programs. The Certificate Program is not designed to fulfil specific career requirements, but rather, to equip business professionals for “marketplace ministry”
Associate of Arts in Christian Ministry
The purpose of an Associate’s Degree in Christian Ministry is to provide a thorough biblical foundation so that graduates may effectively engage in Christian ministry as employees of volunteer service agencies or local churches (e.g. Discipleship Coordinator). Graduates may also work under the direction of a missions-based organization.
Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry
Graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry will be equipped to effectively engage in Christian ministry as employees of volunteer service agencies, missions organizations or local churches. Students completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry will qualify for ordination and vocational ministry in many denominations and will be prepared for leadership positions in ministry-related organizations.
Master of Arts in Christian Leadership
For business professionals looking to advance their skills in leadership, evangelism, and discipleship, the Master of Arts in Christian Leadership Ministry is designed to provide both personal Christian growth and a strong biblically-based understanding of servant leadership. Students will develop a strong ability to witness in their work settings, to lead others with passion towards a shared vision, and to engage in appropriate self-care as a means to avoid burnout and discouragement.
Master of Arts in Christian Ministry
The purpose of a Master of Arts Degree in Christian Ministry is to provide a thorough biblical foundation so that graduates may effectively engage in ministry through missions or as employees of volunteer service agencies or local churches. Students completing a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry will qualify for ordination and vocational ministry in many denominations and will be prepared for leadership positions in ministry-related organizations.
Students who major in Christian Studies will graduate with strong biblical studies skills as well as a solid preparation in theology and apologetics. The Christian Studies major is intended for those seeking full-time vocational pastorship in a church or ministry setting. Graduates with a background in Christian Studies will be equipped to teach and preach God’s Word with a firm understanding of God’s Truth and a strong relationship with the power of His Spirit.
A Concentration in Care Ministry prepares students with a biblical understanding of spirital warfare, its effects on human relations and emotions, and provides them with the tools to provide leadership emotional and relational transformation. Care Ministry students graduate with a strong theological and personal spiritual formation and experience extensive, in-depth mentored experience working in Care Ministry to administer emotional and relational care to others. Individuals who already hold pastoral, counseling, or social work credentials looking for effective ways to integrate transformational prayer ministry into their practice or who wish to become equipped to engage in prayer or pastoral Care Ministry under the direction of a local church may wish to pursue a program in Care Ministry as a way to expand their current ministry skillset.
ACMin also offers a Lifelong Ministry Certificate in Prayer Leadership. This program does not provide college credit. It does, however, prepare students to serve as powerful and effective leaders of a local Prayer Team or Transformational Prayer Ministry effort.
The Field Ministry Concentration is intended for students who wish to pursue church planting, agricultural ministry, or other forms of missions work both in the U.S. and internationally. Jesus commanded his followers to preach the gospel to all nations. Field Ministry coursework provides ACMin students with practical ways to spread the Good News as missionaries, Christian entrepreneurs, church planters, and leaders of community gardening and service organizations.
Graduates who pursue a concentration major in Generational Ministry will be equipped with a thorough biblical and practical foundation so that they may effectively serve in local churches as children’s, youth, and adult discipleship ministers or work in community service agencies. Generational Ministry coursework prepares ACMin students to minister to children, teens, and adults by providing them with an understanding of the relationship between emotional and spiritual maturity and with effective tools to help develop individuals into their full potential as bearers of Christ’s image and presence.
Whether in a church setting or in the marketplace, our culture needs strong leaders who understand who they are in Christ, and even more importantly, who Christ is in them. From that place of secure identity in Christ, students seeking a concentration in leadership will study servant leadership God’s way. Based on biblical principles, leadership majors will explore themes like vision, passion, motivation and self-care, along with topics such as Christian ethics, conflict resolution, and helping others grow. More than ever, our world needs Godly leaders in every area of business, government, education, arts, and church. Our leadership programs (graduate level only) at the Athens College of Ministry are designed to equip and empower students to be differene makers with the faith and character that brings Glory to God.
Biblical worship is at the heart of everything we do for the glory of God during our lives as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is how we engage with the God of our creation, and the means by which we are sustained in Him as we grow in grace. Worship is the essence of our relationship to the Lord, with joyful service the overflowing response. For this reason, God is still seeking after those who will worship him “in spirit and in truth.” The Athens College of Ministry is dedicated to equipping Christ-followers in the principles and practices of worship which glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in truth. A concentration in Worship Arts is designed to equip Worship Leaders not only with musical and conducting skills but also with a depth of relational ministry skills necessary for effectve leadership of people.
